I have a 4.8 PC on order at the moment (about 8 weeks away and my first ever "new boat" purchase), and am looking for someone in SE QLD who has either done or had done a spray chines mod. This is something I am definitely interested in for my new boat, and I'd be very interested in talking to someone locally who has some experience.

Cheers,
Shane.

Shane, if you are after a crowd that do poly welding professionally and can't find someone in the boating industry, I would probably try poly pipe welders as these people would have to be able to do tradesman quality work. After all poly pipe work has to be leak proof and pressurized etc. Maybe check with plumbing/sewerage installation mobs

Each Council sub contracts out to plastic welders to fix wheely Bins. Another place to look,

Chines are on and a success. Extremely happy with the workmanship. Took the poly out Saturday, and had to wait till midday for some breeze and seas to really test the new fins. Stayed dry as a nuns........well you get the idea. Also had a side pocket made up and welded on. Was too busy catching gar and crabs to take pics. Promise to have some pics next time.

Thanks to Skip for leading the way with here in Adelaide, and the Darwin boys for pioneering the chines mod.

I believe Mark Bargenquast and Murray from Barneys Marine were the pioneers of the chines mod, i know Bargy's 5.3 (which is now chozza's) was the first poly boat to get the chines done.

So hats off to Bargy and Murray, not the posers from Darwin laugh1

cheers tim 2thumbsup

There's Ultraform Plastics in Rene Street, Noosaville. He did a small repair on my PC when I scratched it once. He's a decent bloke in a family business. However, you'd be starting from scratch with him, so for a couple of hours each way I'd be very tempted to go to Maryborough because Barney's (presumably) know what they're doing. Or just phone them and see where they got them made/welded.

PS Steer clear of Paragon Plastics in Noosa! shock

Had my 2nd trip out since the chine mod. Anyone wondering if they keep you dry heading south east in a strong wind and gulf chop from the south will be disappointed. Soaked. I will add that they worked a treat heading in all other directions on the compass. ;)

WA Metro crew. Looks like these guys are worth a try. Might make a call next week and suss it out more, but site sounds positive and local to Rockingham/Mandurah! extrusion welding the way to go i'd say.

Pretty sure Kindston Bridge Engineering do poly fabrication as well. David Moss might also do poly fabrication.

One of the poly tank manufacturers should be able to sort you as well. Try West Coast Poly or WA Poly Tanks.

Alternately you can buy the gear and do it yourself

Or for the chinese made ebay stuff

I'm going to get myself a hot air welder shortly. Then I'll be dangerous...

You are quite correct, as Mark and Murray were the pioneers. Bones and I used their knowledge and information to put our chines on. BUT WE ARE NOT POSERS!!!

At no stage have BONES or I claimed that we were the pioneers.. So, thanks TimD for that unwelcome and untimely comment!!

We were lucky to find a mobile bloke to come around and do it with our assistance. They do work a treat. However, any conditions that you would get wet in a Quinnie or other open boat, you will get wet in a poly with the chines. They work the same.

However, they do cut down massively on the spray and are worth every cent!! Bones can vouch for this.yippy

Cheers
