Hi Scruffie,
That could be interesting, possible sealing problems, but would sure make the winter fishing more comfortable, what is the $$$$ ?

Hey Scruf
I have a 4.55 cuddy. It was sitting in the back of the shop when I was looking at buying a boat. The dealer didnt want to sell it to me as he said,
1. Its very difficult to access the hatch to drop anchor
2. the cab is difficult to get into to retrieve stuff in there

He was right on both accounts.
1. Because I am 6' tall, I cant get under the cab and then squeeze through the hatch to do anchor work. I have to climb over the top of the window. Thats not easy either and there have been several times where I have slipped and nearly lost the family jewels. The main problem is the raised deck at the front that just wont allow a big person the room to manouver to get out the hatch.
2. The deck cover is too heavy to lift to get anything out. I chucked it out and now have one big hole to chuck stuff in. As you could imagine, anything at the bottom is hard to reach.

So would I have been happier with another style? NO I am very happy with the cuddy. It has provided me with protection from the elements such as cold winds and spray from the badly designed bow and a dry area for storing clothes bags etc. The cabin is pretty useless for anything else. The only thing that can get in there out of the weather and use it as a cabin is the dog. She has had many a good sleep on top of the life jackets.

The cab does reduce the amount of room in the boat. Its most comfortable with two people, three is a squeeze and 4 is a nightmare.

My thoughts on it would be to narrow the cab by about 300 -400mm and have a wide walk around deck to get to the front.

There was this 5.99 posted for sale in the old forum which i thought was a brilliant idea

If you are any good with aluminium, could you possibly make your own cab similar to this?

Hope some of that info helps

centre cab is the best.
you have both protection and space to fish around.

Thanks guys.
The factory told me the same problems that is why they no longer make them.

looks great though and protection would be great.

I know a guy who is a wizz with aloy (made his own plate boat and works in industry) will hit him up and see what he comes up with.

Would still love to try and get original cab.

I have returned from the big town down south, but I am only here for a short time as we head east after fish..... so for the time being you are safe. I will try and work on the use of the apostrophe whilst we are away.

Doug, I am actually starting to believe that we are fighting a battle that is going to be difficult to win. Either they do not know in the first place, or the demon drink is impeding all their performances.
