View Full Version : Evinrude etec memory module
Just wondering if anyone has one of these, thinking of getting one as etec 115 fuel sensor moves around a lot. How do they fit on to nmea 2000 system?
chuck the motor- get a 4 stroke
BEAT U ALL to it !!! ;p
The yamahas if I was desperate, mercury if I was in my 60's with dementia. I love the etec it's lighter more powerful and efficient and don't forget servicing. Maybe it's time for a repower all 4 stroke users!
Just kidding I own a 4 stroke as well.touch wooden the etecs going ok

????? I thought one of the main selling points was that you can forget about servicing. (Well, at least for three years or until it corrodes, whichever comes sooner)

Did you ending up installing the memory module nfmtank? I have one if you're still chasing info.
Didn't get it what's involved parts and pricing and is it good and accurate

Module costs around $130. Australian Marine Centre at Springwood was cheapest at the time. Comes as module plus NMEA t-piece connector. Just attach directly to the NMEA backbone. I have a Lowrance HDS as well as Icommand gauges. The module works with both. I also have the tank sender unit connected to the NMEA backbone. I have configured Icommand to use EMM fuel flow data and the HDS to use tank level sensor. This way I can compare data. I only use the flow data now. It is very accurate. You can calibrate if necessary. Mine worked perfectly without calibration. My fuel gauge is perfect now and is not affected by movement on the water.
I have I command guages and a humminbird which I am going to get rid of for lowrance or Simrad soon at least the nmea date will come through. You got any pics of your rig with the mods and nmea info on the lowrance please.

nfmtank I'll send you some info over the weekend. I am assuming you have an existing NMEA set-up for the Icommand gauges - data cable from engine, power supply, Icommand gauges, tank sender.... is this correct? Perhaps you could send me a pic of what you have so I can suggest the best set-up.
not sure what i have i command says.
evinrude en, fuel tank and gps module?

Sorry mate, have been busy at work. You would have a series of t-pieces connected in a straight line with a terminator connected at each end. This is the backbone. Currently you would have the following items connected to the backbone: power supply, engine data, fuel tank sender, humminbird sounder, icommand gauge #1, icommand gauge #2 (if you have more than 1). To connect the memory module you simply need to remove one of the terminators and attach another t-piece, then attach the terminator at the open end. The memory module will then screw into the new t-piece. You then need to go into the fuel set-up screen in one of your icommand gauges and select the fuel remaining source. You will have 2 options; the fuel flow data from your engine, or the tank level sender connected to the fuel tank. Select the engine fuel flow data. Now you just need to set up the icommand fuel management screen to show the data you want to see. I am happy to talk you through this on the phone if that would be easier.

Meant to add that the memory module comes with a t-piece when you buy it. You won't need to buy any additional parts. You can leave the tank sender unkit connected. I have configured my icommand gauges to use the engine fuel flow data as the fuel remaining source, and my Lowrance HDS to use the tank sender unit. This gives me the opportunity to see both data sources but the engine fuel flow data is way more accurate.
It can only help I am doing it by eye. I will have a look after the boat show here. Thanks

No worries nfm. I am planning to launch my rig at hope island in the next few weeks. I would be happy to meet you at the ramp if you wanted to check my NMEA set-up out.
