I've picked up my new drifter side console (even better than my old 4.55 center console),
I'm still running in the 60 suzi, the proble is I'm getting cavitation at approx 4000rpm on mild turns,
I'm thinking I should install a permatrim but I've been told about adding a 17.5 deg wedge,
Has anyone else experienced this and if so what was your solution.

You need to find out what "hole" the motor is mounted from other owners. I can't help, but you could try a site search.

Height of the motor is the mostly likely cause of your problems (or so the chaps with dirty fingernails tell me).

Hi Notso, firstly if your rig is new the dealer should have a go at fixing it.
If you don't have any faith in the stealer or can't be bothered with the hassle then do it yourself.
The first thing to do is try shifting the outboard either up or down a hole. My 4.55 was cavitating (still does a little bit on tight power turns) and I tried going down a hole which was conventional wisdom. This actually made it worse. Went up one hole from original and it's pretty good now.

It isn't difficult to move the outboard yourself, just take the weight under the skeg with a car jack and a piece of timber in between. While you have the mounting bolts out bung some sealant in the bolt holes from the front side of the transom (not the back) as your dealer probably didn't do it when he fitted the donk.

I can't see the Permatrim helping much, got one on my tub and it's great at helping to trim the boat.

My fingernails are perfectly clean Doug, you have do some work to get dirty.

Chin,
I was assuming to lower the motor 1 bolt hole but it is already touching the top of the transom,i never thought lift the motor 1 one would work, the other part to the problem it pulls out the great and I don't want to bugger that up.
thanks for the reply

Just a quick update,
Ive fitted 5 deg wedges and the performance is a lot better, the interesting thing is Ive just came back from the local suzi dealer and he has adjusted the bottom trim position so it shoould be even better.
Apparently Suzuki dont supply there 60's for sure with the trim adjusted to the true bottom position ??
