Saw this on the Fishwrecked fishing forum about a bloke in broome with his polycraft.

don't know the story but check the link out, as they say Broome is a VERY dangerous place to launch a boat, every few months there is a photo of people with swamped cars/boats.

Nice to see the polycraft doing it's job.

Thats gotta stuff ya day out. doh

Not a problem for the boat, the main concern would be getting water into the motor so depends on how deep the motor went?

When I was doing a camp with the local High School before I met Miss Jane. We took the schools rowing club dingy with us. At the end of the days activities one of the teachers, my mate (the teachers son) & I went for a dive. We came back to the dingy only to find it floating much like the 4.55 in the picture. . . . . . . . .

We stripped the spark plugs out of the old lo-tech 2 stroke, Filled it with CRC & pulled her over a couple of times. Fitted her back to the boat & fired her up no worries at all.

Later on we found some 2 cent coins in the bottom of the boat. . . . . . . . They has nearly made a completely round hole the size of the coin right through. there was just enough ally left to just hold together.

I've no experience with big outboards getting wet but my idiot customers are forever swamping the two HP yammies. We just hose 'em down, drain the tanks and carby and take the plugs out and spray some oil in and then they usually start second pull. However, I suspect it shortens their life by about 30% roughly.

'Course, if they're running when you swamp 'em, it's goodnight everyone!

I think its a good advert for polycraft really...anything less buoyant (i.e. ali) would be under rather than just swamped. Still some clearance at the gunnels.
