What is the difference between a high thrust 60 hp Yammy 4 stroke, and a normal 60hp Yammy 4 stroke. Can they be put on a fishing boat, or are they a lazy work type motor for pushing loads.

i think the main difference is that the hight thrust model FT60D has a gear box ratio of 2.33:1 and the normal F60C has a ratio of 1.85:1, so the high thrust will give you exactly that with the down side of loosing your top end speed

I know nuffink about boats but own about a dozen of them. We use "high thrust" motors on the houseboats because we want them to push a bloody great load (ten tonnes plus actually) but not so fast that the punter or I get frightened. That's why two Yamaha 9.9s can get about six knots out of the big houseboats at 4000rpm. They usually come with a prop appropriate to that sort of work called a "barge" prop.
