Thanks but a bit rich for me atm, given me the idea that 2nd hand should be sub 10k though

Depending on where you are Dio can make a big difference in price.
I bought a '04 C/C model with a 40 2str Yammy off a Perth dealer for $11500 last year. The motor had 50 hrs on it and the trailer was as new.
Prior to that there was 4.1 with a busted arse motor for $16K here in town. shock shock
Before and after buying mine I have seen plenty of sub $10K 4.1's on the east coast for sale (second hand).
Sometimes I wish we were a bit closer to the manufacturers and blokes like the BigFella.
It looks like you'll just have to twiddle ya thumbs for a while 'til something comes up.

Welcome aboard Dio. Mate consider how you'd like to use the boat for the majority of the time. If you will mostly only be going short distances, a tiller steer model might suit you. It will be a lot cheaper that one with a steering wheel setup.

I'm sure Glenn will be able to help you with prices etc. If it is within your budget, get one with power trim and tilt. For ease of use and long-term satisfaction get one that can be used as a true one-handed operation. That means that the PTT button must be within reach of your steering-hand thumb without having to remove said hand from the throttle. The best setups I've seen, in order of user-friendliness are Honda (only the new model), Yamaha and ETEC. All of the rest are two-handed operation.

Good luck with your search.

Thanks for the replys, tiller would be my preferance as it would give more room in the middle of the boat.

Mate i have a 4.1 tiller. I brought for $4000 about 2 years ago off a mate's dad he was chasing $6000 for it but dropped it to $4000 for me. Was pretty basic had a 25hp bigfood on it. Manual start and tilt. cheap fish finder and few basic rod holders, and nav lights.

I upgraded the motor to a 40hp 2 stroke for a difference of $1500 over the old motor. Put an electric on the front for about $800. New fish finder $400, Put on 3 seats $300 plus swivels and bolts etc, spent a while redoing the electrical wiring for the lights and sounder as it was joined poorly and run everywhere ( I'm a sparky so i like stuff like that neat and out of the way). needed new anchor as the one on it was way too small couldn't hold it in the salt and new rope $50. New rod holders $150, drinks holders, moved nav lights so they're correctly positioned. And gave it a good clean up.

I've been looking at trying to go a side 4.1 or 4.5 as this will suit lure fishing a bit more also depending on what the boss will let me get. I will be selling mine and probably looking for about $5000 to $6000. Most tiller's seem to be advertised about the $6000 for basic boat to about $10 000 for the set up boats and more for fully decked out ones.

If you do decide to go a 4.1 make sure you get the biggest motor possible the 25 on mine could get on the plan with me in it. But would struggle with 2 people in it. The 40 will get it up on the plan about half throttle with 2 and get it easy enough with 3 people.

hay mate how did you go, did you get a boat yet, a fair price for a second boat would be in the $10 to $14 mark for a good one, it may sound a lot, but they are holding there value very well indeed
