It looks like a baitcaster, and it is an overhead reel, but direct drive like an old, old bike. You actually can wind it forwards or backwards. I got that (and the telescopic rod which folds down to the size of a large pen) as a gimic xmas present. But like any good gimic - it had to get used, so that was the maiden outing. Now I'm going to catch something bigger on it (like a bass or flatty).
