4.8 with 5.3 console? [Archive] - Polyboatowners Forum

Does anyone out there have a 4.8 PC with the wider and squarer 5.3 console fitted? I have heard that a few have been delivered with this configuration, and am looking at it myself as I don't like the curved 4.8 console. If you do, I'd really like to see a couple of pictures or hear your feedback.

I have looked through my photos but I cant find the one with the larger CC.

Its looks awesome, the only complaint I heard was as it is larger, it is more difficult to get past.

On the bright side, it would provide more protection from the wind and waves.

I have included a magic photo of the 5.3 console. If you stare at the picture for more than 5 minutes... the console will appear in the photo.

Actually thinking about it, it may have been a 5.3 with a 5.99 console in it. Bugga I cant find the pic, maybe search in the old forum for it?

Seen one here in rocky just last week at the dealer. Looks like not too much room either side of the console. If its still there and i remember i will get a pic or two next time i go in to town.

Awesome picture Dave. It did take me a while to find the console hidden in it though.

Space down the sides is what I'm interested in finding out more about. I haven't seen one up close, but from the info I have been able to gain so far it appears there should still be about 390mm each side of the console to get past, and I'd've though that was enough.

Mitch if you were able to get a couple of pics, and/or the clearance on the side of the console that'd be great.

Glenn, mate where's my two girlies to come out with me in my boat and keep me hydrated with beer, surely i ticked that option box when i ordered my boat.

i can see that there wouldn't be much room at all down the sides which to me defeats the purpose but each to there own, i too don't like the design of the 4.8m consoles and it does need a larger one. in the 5.3m i reckon i'd be lucky to have more that 350mm does each sides maybe 400mm at a stretch. I do remember seeing a pic on the old forum of this set up

Dave, i think the photo you are looking for was posted by Darren {polyboy} not that long after he joined the site.
I think the photos of the hulk were about the same time give or take a week or two

I thought it was the Hulk as well. I have those photos but its not that one.

With the old forum, some of the pics dont show up, thats why we had to migrate to the new one without the old information *bugga*

I will have a look and see if I can find it

I seem to remember the photos we are looking for were of a proto type boat in camouflage colours? I think it was destined for the Navy Cadets? Not completely sure on that one, but close!
It was pictured in the yard at Polycraft Bundy.

Actually now my brain cells have kicked in,

There was a 4.8 brumby cammo CC here in in coffs @ coffs marine market.

Checked in out a few months back and it had a Console that would fit 2 easily behind it, Will check it out when i go past 2moz :)

sound like the same one to me,

Did they make a few of these?

Sweed they have one in at my local poly dealer if u want me to get sum shots???

The console is huge but leaves just enough room to get around, I went in 2day after work to have a look at the Cammo poly,

To me that console on that model takes up too much room, great for protection but heaps of extra floor space loss!

Maybe Giffo could pop into the office in Bundy and see if they have any copies of that boat?

You do loose floor space but the extra large console would give you better storage.

Its one of those compromise things... certainly looks better than an OEM one thou

I have just watched the polycraft video a time or two and I wouldn't mind betting that what we see in the photos is standed stuff for the 5.3 and its the color that makes it look big.
in the video there is one very quick shot with the ice box with the swing back seat in place have a look and see what you think

I questioned them as its nearly as much as the 5.3 warrior bow rider sitting next to it! they wanted 44k for it with a 115 suki 4 banger :rolleyes:

The hulk has a custom built Centre console (metal) as is his front deck and the 2 million watts stereo system that is mounted in both the CC and front deck.

The console is very workable within the Poly and as Bigfella suggested still ample room down either side.

Zutta, Thx heaps for posting those photos. I am sticking with the plan for the 5.3 console, but with the standard rear folding seat and rear CC arrangement. As I see it, I won't spend *that* much time traversing around the boat, and the extra protection (in particular) and storage will be worth it.
