I was unhitching thd trailer and noticed the brake leaver couldnt be tightened. Apon investigation i found it had lost a pad, it had come away from the plate. My 5.3 sits on a RM trailer Hydra launch. It has holden wheels. Has anyone had this problem & what size pads did it take?

I have had the same problem bbay.
I found that mine tended to stick to the disk & then ripped off as I took off.
I took a pad down to my local car parts supplier & they gave me some AXXIS DB1029 pads.
Now days when I wash the boat down I take it for a trip round the block & stop & start a few times to make them work a bit & dry out.

thanks 4 that Pete
Did you need to take the wheels off to get to the pads. If so I may as well do the berrings as well.

No but you do need to take the axle off the springs to get to the bolts on the caliper!!!! & if you are doing that yes do the bearings at the same time as its the only way to get the hubs off.
I did a post on the old site some where with some pics. I will try & find the pics.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
cant seem to find the post I made.
I set the trailer up by first winding the jockey wheel right down. I sat a couple 8" blocks of timber under the rear of the trailer on the side I wanted to work on & then wound the jockey wheel right up again. This let me take the wheel of the trailer. I undid the bolts on the springs & used the car jack to lift the axle up enough the remover the bolts to the caliper. This lets you then replace the pads & also remove the hubs to do the bearings.
I have done this 3 times now as I check the bearings each year & last time I cut the extra 25mm or so for the U Bolts off so it was easier to remove them.
The bearings on my RM Trailer are Ford.
