View Full Version : Chines
Does anyone know of somewhere around Gladstone , Rockhampton or Bundy where there is a polywelder that will do some chines for me and the approx cost. If anyone does please give me the name and phone number so I can get them as soon as possible,
Thanks
bingo - i am facing the same issue in the same area. I may have a lead on a bloke who is willing to do it, but it's not confirmed yet. PM me with your info.
Hi Sweeden,
I cant work out how to turn on my messaging. When I work it out I will give you my details , but until then we will have to converse through this site. Where are you living at the moment, as the last time I saw a post from you it said that you are "now not living in WA".
Hey Bingo welcome to the site hope you enjoy both the site and your poly PS the chines work a treat best of luck.
Cheers Bones

Very good idea, and that's coming from only two trips in my tub..YES it's wet. Getting bimini/clears hopefully improve the situation, but also interested in chines. Anyone in WA know of similar supplier ??
Cheers
I am now at the gold coast, but my boat is being delivered in g'stone in the next month or so.

some local councils outsource to get the plastic wiz bins fixed/welded so maybe getting in touch with them might put you onto someone that can poly weld for you.
cheers, Jan.

well if it was the one from up here it was originally for sale for $40k which conviently showed up on the local "hill" just after i ordered mine, was tempting to buy it but it seems you got a much better deal.
Anyone have a template for the 5.3m or am i gonna have to get creative with some cardboard?
Hi Sweeden, did you ever find someone to do chines. I have been busy moving house for the last few weeks , thats why I havent been on the site.
I'm getting mine done *today* in Hervey Bay.

Perfect conditions to try them out in Hervey Bay Sweeden (blowing it's ring out today but could be a top day tomorrow). Had our chines done in the bay a while back and were stoked with the difference.2thumbsup

where in hervey bay are you getting this done?

I spoke to Murray at Barney's Marine. He also has a 4.8 and I found him very helpful to talk to about various aspects of the boat.
You ladies need to toughen up a bit or buy a tinnie. If you owned a tinnie you would be sitting at home whinging about how bad the weather was instead. sooks.
Hey Sweeden, do you have the phone number for Barney's and how much didi it cost?

Anyone after spray chines. Try Len at Fraser Coast Plastics in Hervey Bay 0741256659
He does do the spray chines, I've had a live bait tank made by him, good job. The chines are still on the wish list.

Barney's contract out the plastic welding to Len, then do some finishing themselves. Price is something I think you should discuss with the dealer. I am very happy with the job done on my boat, but one thing I will say is that it requires me to sink the trailer a lot more to get the boat on (now wet over the axle). Before the chines I could wind-on with the trailer just in to the bottom of the wheel rims.
Sweeden, can you give me a ball park figure on the cost of chines. Also how have the chines effected the Brumby other than the trailer being deeper?
Ballpark between $400 and $500. I've had them for all of 2 days now, but can definitely notice a reduction in spray and no noticable handling changes. They aren't particularly beautiful cosmetically, but you can see that from other peoples pictures of the chines. They look very similar to the set put on by Bones and Geobec. I'll be doing a photo gallery of my boat early next week and will post pics then.
