We planned to be in Strahan on the west coast of Tassie this weekend for the attempt on the Most Skiers Behind One Boat. For severs reasons we couldnt make it.

The attempt is being done by the local water ski club. Horsehead Water Ski Club that is the oldest in the country.

One of my apprentices was president last year & Miss Jane works with his father. Last year we went down only knowing these to members & were welcomed with open arms & had a great weekend helping out & acting as a "Pickup Boat" to ferry skiers back to the beach.

They tried this morning & had some trouble getting the boat underway with 120 skiers behind but did manage to get 87 Skiers up & out of the water & 85 completed the 1Nm run.

From conversations with those there it would appear that they are going to try again this afternoon in deeper water as they think their problem was the jets couldnt suck in enough water due to being in too shallow water so they could not develop full power.

I wish them good luck this afternoon & wish that we were there. Just imagine 85 skiers side by side being towed by a 35M boat with 2 4000Hp MTU Diesels !!!!

We went back to Strahan yesterday to help with another go at the World Record Number of Skiers Behind One Boat the bay looked good before the start but there was a funny swell running up the bay & it was hard work just keeping the our boat on the plane let alone ski.

They made 118 out of the water at the start but lost a couple too many on the way down the nautical mile & ended up with 97 left standing.

We spent the day setting back up as the forecast said it should calm back down. But by 6:00 it hadnt settled we had to leave & make the 3 hour trip back home.

We were on tenter hooks waiting for news this morning to see if they went again . They had absolutely perfect conditions this morning & they tried again & made 114 people at the end of the mile run. yippy yippy yippy yippy

We are in too moods today as we are so happy for them but disappointed we werent there to see them do it.

When I get time I will post some pics.
