Hey guys just after some advice. Im a bit freaking confused now. I was looking at a poly 4.5m rig as I was looking for a boat to get me into a few different fishing situations however after long chats with the wife Iv desided I just want a boat purely to lure fish 95% of the time here on lake macquaire. The other 5% will be trips to forster and south coast rivers etc for holidays and id love to try my hand at bass fishing plus throw a tourny or 2 in just for the experience.

SO my question.......Is the 41.m SC an ok boat for the fishing im looking at doing or is she a bit small. HONEST opinions boys lol ;)

I know a local up here (slippery) with a 4.1m and he loves the thing but im just not sure on the size of them. As for deck space etc. My other option is say a 4.45m Hornet (dont shoot me, just an option) more deck space etc.

Anyhow would love your input

cheers Jas!

Jas it will depend on the conditions you are likely to face on the lake, and your other preferred fishing places. The spots themselves may be smooth, but do you need to cross any rough water? If so, how rough? Does Lake Macquarie blow up?

As for lure fishing, the 4.1 is as stable a boat as you can get. It has a good sized front casting deck built in. I extended the rear one by about 400mm when I installed a motor with a longer tiller handle, and installed an infill board in the centre of the existing deck. This made a big rear deck.

For my best guess, I'd go for the 4.5 for it's sea-keeping ability. Check with some of the Newcastle blokes for some more direct advice.

Cheers
