View Full Version : NEED TEST RIDE!

Hey everyone,

I'm new to the forum, and very keen to purchase a polycraft. After having a few tinnies over the years (the last one being a bluefin warrior 4.5 with a 50), I think the polys' seem to look like a good thing. I am undecided between the 4.5 and the brumby, but probably leaning towards the latter.

This forum has proved to be a great research tool, and has put me in touch with glen from sunshine pontoons. He has given me some great prices but with no local dealers here in brisbane having a demo boat, I have no way of testing one or even just going for a ride in one!

So if there is anyone in the sunny coast/Brisbane/Gold coast area that would be willing to take me for a quik spin, please let me know! I am happy to cover fuel costs etc etc...

Cheers

Mick,

Welcome aboard mate. I have a 4.55 Frontrunner with a 60 etec. I'm north side of Brisbane. If you want to come out for a run one day, let me know. I try and get out on the water at least once a week.

Give me a call if you like. PH: 07 38886603

I got an older 4.55CC with 50hp yam, also north of brisbane (shornclifee). PM me if you are interested.

Just want to be sure that Mick knows the 4.55 is a bit different to the much newer 4.50. I'm not trying to be a smart-arse (for once!), but they are a bit different aren't they.

Thanks guys,

Jason and Andy, I will be in touch. Doug, as far as I know, the main difference between the 4.55 and the drifter is in the transom, with the engine well and slightly different seating/storage configuration. Im assuming the overall hull shape and ride characterstics would be very close?

As far as a second hand rig goes, obviously there are not many 4.5 or 4.8 models out there yet. This is a bit of a shame, as the model I am most interested in is a rear centre console brumby. I like the idea of a fully closed in transom for sneaking outside on the odd occasion (I mainly fish moreton bay) plus, it is a very roomy boat. I have read that the rear cc does flex quiet a lot and is nice soft ride. The thing I find most appealing about this configuration however is just the fact that there is so much open deck space! I wonder how it would go with a 75 etech? I can get a good deal with the 2 stroke.

Within the next month I should take delivery of a brand new 4.8 RCC, however fitted with the console from the 5.3 rather than the standard 4.8 console. I am on the Gold Coast, and will be look for excuses to go for a run, so let's see where you are in a few weeks and if you are still looking for a ride in a brumby I can accomodate.
