Hey guys,

Just before I go and stuff something up I thought id check with you all. Im making the frame for my front and rear cast deck extentions on my 4.1m poly. Now I know some guys have had very nice alloy frames welded up but im just doing alloy angle frame screwed/popped together.

My question is :

Is it ok to screw the frame to the sides and floor of a Poly boat then screw my ply to the frame after its carpeted? Is the frame being screwed into the poly stronge enough?

cheers Jas!

Jayro,

IMO I would securley fix the frame to the floor and deck faces. Place some type of semi firm rubber packing (something that will last) between the sides, as the hull flexes alot in rough water.
Also, don't forget about the expansion and contraction of the hull due to temerature variations.

Good luck with it.

Bream Reaper

used square ally tube with the plastic joiner to do the deck on his 4.5, I think he got it from Bunnings.

Here a couple of pics from the old site.
