Have purchased a 4.10 challenger and would like peoples thoughts on what type and what poundage of electric to put on. Will be a bow mount.
My last boat was a 4.35 bermuda (basically a 4.35 hornet). On this I had a Rip Tide series Minn Kota with the auto pilot, this served me pretty well for 6-7 years.
Can anyone tell me about the Jarvis Walker water snakes..???
Any info, thoughts or input would be much appreciated.

I'm running a 55lb thrust Minn Kota Riptide (autopilot and remote) on my 4.1 and I am very happy with it. Haven't used anything else, so I can't really help with your query.

I installed a 54lb Jarvis Walker Watersnake on my 4.1 c/c and it runs along as sweet as a nut. A 107Ah deep cycle battery under the console powers it, combined with a 3-way switch to isolate or combine batteries.
Being quite a bit cheaper than the Minn Kota's, as well as no serious complaints from other users on PBO made the decision for me.
Having the ability to reduce the speed of the boat down to a crawl, and working the lures is a hell of a lot easier with the electric motor than with the 40hp idling away.
Have only used the electric up the river and not in the tidal creeks so far, as I don't think it could really work that well against a 7-9m tidal movement. Will give it a go one day and let ya know the results. 2thumbsup

Thanks lads.
Threadie what about an on board charger. I have a caravan at Forster Tuncurry, and my boat can stay in the water for anything up to 2 weeks. To save pulling the boat out every couple of days and hitting my auxilliary batteries with a charger. Was thinking of putting a system in.
Do you have an onboard chargeing system...???? If so what is your setup.

I really can't help you there Frosty as my 40 can charge either/or cranking and electric battery, and my trips up the river have only been for a couple of days at a time. Thus when I get home I fully charge batteries when the boat is in the drive with a trickle charger.
Maybe if you used high amp jump start batteries with Anderson plug connections you could change them over as they are easy to carry. I use these in my work situation and they are perfect for that, but I don't need heavy duty ones. I will post a pic shortly.

Maybe try this way Frosty if someone doesn't come up with a more practical idea. Just remember it must be a far heavier battery you will need

Gday Frosty
I have had a Minn kota on board charger for the last 4 yrs
.
You stlll need to plug it into the mains to charge your battery !.
There is probably a way of recharging your axillary battery from your motor perhaps check with your local autoelectrician/chandlery.
I run a riptide 55lb minn Kota as well and it goes well on my 4.1
Cheers John

Thanks John
Have mounted an auxilliary and will take to a fella from Battery world I know. Hopefully he will point me in the right direction in regards to wireing up, and hopefully nice and cheap...!!!
