View Full Version : Need a poly RIB
Does such a beast exist? We need a new boat for the juniors at the yacht club. I fully intended to track down a RIB for the job, then it dawned on me this morning as I was using my boat for the juniors, that perhaps a polycraft would be the go. Then I though, maybe a poly rigid inflatable...
Anyone know if its possible to fit a bumper bar to a polycraft?:)
Mac boats made a boat that was very much like a clubby inflatable I think.About 3.6m but I don't know how common they are.
sorry mind is a blank, and can't think of the name of the mob in W.A. building that very thing, a poly rib.

Thats pretty much what I am looking for, but with the vinyl sides so we dont bang up the club boats. I dont think I will find what I am looking for, but never mind. Going to ring up tomorrow and get cunninghams marine to supply a quote for a 4.1 centre console with 50hp 4 banger. We should get a good 30+ years out of that one! There is a huge amount of recreational sports grants just about to be offered, so fingers crossed we can secure enough money to buy one. I guess being a rescue boat we will have to go for yellow :eek:
To be honest, I have been quite surprised by the response I have received by people who have seen and used my boat. Sailors are the harshest critics and I have not yet had a bad word about the poly.
Andy contact the southern cross sailing club here in Canberra, they use the 4.5 poly craft for most things on the water, that way you will know if the plaka boats would do the job.

i am in wa -but went for a polycraft -space and dry ride to the plaka
horses for courses-as a wet lil diveboat plaka is perfect
using it a s lil tow and push semi rescue craft transferrig kids into and out of low dingies
perfect i reckon as the side are low
couple going second hand and there is some sweet deals in the WA second hand rag called quakka -well was 2 or so weeks ago
buy second hand then repower?
i looked at 2 nice clean ones before i picked up my lil poly
if new its not much more to get them built to survey- never know how legislation changes with kids and workboats

Have a look at the "auction site" there is a vessel on there at present that might meet your needs.
