Just have to ask the question cause a few times I have posted stuff up here about sticking up for rec fishos I get no response. Just wondering if I should post here or not. I was about to post something up but thought I might ask the question first. I get the feeling that fishing is secondary to most here?

Have to apologise, but most is always Queensland based stuff.

Yes I fish. Not as much as I would like. I have been slack when it comes to posting reports though.

Here is my PB snapper from December just gone. 10.5 kg - 98cm.

Geday Andy. Sorry mate, when you posted about the Ecofishers at the tinny show, I did think 'Good on ya' I do apologise for not voicing my support.

I can only speak for myself but I fish as much as I can, its my substitue for having friends, and, you know, a life.
I believe many here would probebly fish more if they could. I think anyone who fishes would, or should take an interest developments regarding the political side of rec fishing, it is well publicised in the fishing mags and sites but doesn't seem to get any mention in popular media. Myself personally, I tend to get a little shy around politics, probebly a lot of us dont realise the implications of decisions made by the powers that be and the affects they will have on our lifestyle in the future.
Thats why we need blokes like you Andy, people that have the guts to stand up for us and spread interest, that drum up support for the cause from within our ranks, get our lazy bones into gear, and formulate our defences.

Please do keep posting your info on here and let us know how we can help.
Cheers

No need to apologise Andy, it is a good question. Personally, fishing has to take a back seat to making a living, looking after kids, keeping vehicles and equipment serviced etc etc. I think it's important to be aware of political issues surrounding fishing, but I don't have the time atm to put into anything active. But please keep posting.2thumbsup

I used to fish in the mackeral season 3 or 4 times a week when on the Goldie but the weather in Bundy does not allow such luxuries (windy).I am with you on the extreme greens closing all that they can, as we have a few green zones in Bundy. And they are the best spots to fish (agro)(agro)

I fish as regularly as weather and circumstances allow Andy, and I take an interest in the type of issues you post up.
I wouldn't take the lack of response to mean nobody here is interested, maybe (like me) most are just a little apathetic.

We try to fish as often as we can. Being in Tassie the QLD stuff is all a bit far away but its good to hear whats happening in other states so we know what might happen here in the future.

I can only echo Pete's comment above. In addition, up until now, all my fishing has been in freshwater.

Weather is looking good for the coming weekend so I am planning on having my first crack in the salt. Hoping for some salmon and flatties on the fly.

You gents should chase up your local rec fishing body and support them. Judging by the federal governments bioregional planning you are likely to lose a massive amount of your fishing grounds too. Check out the South-East Coast Marine Bioregional Planning -> http://www.environment.gov.au/coasts/mbp/

For the Queenslanders and New South Welshmen, I will be distributing a petition to the Federal Government regarding the Federal Marine Parks very soon. I encourage you all to sign it and even distribute it to your local tackle shop etc.

In fact, now I think about it I might make a request to our sponsoring senator to see if the petition can be used interstate too.

If you enjoy fishing, get angry people, cause you are about to lose it all..
