View Full Version : 60 hp Yammy Electrical Question
I have a 60 hp 4 stroke Yammy 2007 model.I have cables that come out of the motor, that are about 9mm and connect to the battery and allow power to start the motor.Do these also charge the battery, once the motor is running, or is it from a separate wiring loom that connects to the motor.I have 4 wires that come out of the control box on the Centre Console,I put a multimeter on the red and black wire and showed 12.9V,can I run gauges/sounder/nav lights on the console from this wire ? There also is a cable of about 9mm that comes out of the control box that plugged into a male plug in the motor,I understand this one runs power to the key start and trim/tilt button.

HI Giffo,
I am no expert, others would know far more than I, but the cables from the bat should charge it from the staiter whilst running. Multimeter should read about 13.5v on a full battery. I cant say about those two wires, we always run acc from a seperate pair. Did you get an ops manual with your motor? they are fairly useless but if you need one for the motor and control box I could post them out to you, we no longer have that particular engine.
Cheers
Thanks Keithy,I don't have a manual as the bloke I purchased it off had lost it.I can PM you with my postal address, that would be great.

dont run your motor power source straight to your instruments'
it is not regulated-could cause noise and /or damage
either use a regulator or a battery - motor charges battery -battery runs instruments is the standard way
