View Full Version : Haywire twist tool
Has anyone used a Haywire Twist tool for wire leaders , and which one would you recommend ?
Zat the thing like a bullet that twists the wire the right way?
If so, yes I have. It makes them better than I can make 'em without it but not as good as experts can do without it. But I don't make them very often (gentlemen rarely need them) so I was never very good at it.
However I remember they were two moving parts to it, so it's probably a bit complicated for a firey?
That's the one I have seen Doug,I suppose it would come with instructions on the moving bitsyippy
Yes, but isn't reading them a bit demanding?doh
As long as they don't use big words,I'm OK.Failing that I can ask my kids.Where did you buy yours, as the shops in Bundy do not seem to have them, and I have only found them in the states online.
I bought mine in the States on my one and only visit there (to fish for bonefish in the Bahamas and tarpon on the Florida Keys). They have tackle shops there that make David Jones look like the corner lollie shop - acres of fishing gear! The AUD was 50c USD so I came home bankrupt, but very well equipped in the tackle line.

Awsome stuff hey Doug? I am going to the states in Jan to go on a cruise, I was planning on slipping a rod into my luggage, maybe I should just purchase one from over there... if I have any money left after Vegas..
Speaking of your worldliness and seniority Doug, how are your peepers? have you had them in for a service as yet?

Funny you should ask, Keith, I'm going in tomorrow to have the first one done. Other one two weeks later. Scared shitless, I am.:(
Tommy, the Jack Russell, isn't helping by waltzing round the house with a pram handle attached, stopping at every obstruction, then turning and grinning at me.

No flowers please. Glenmorangie instead.

Well best of luck to you Doug, I'm sure Tommy is just taking the piss and has your best interest at heart... otherwise shave him and use his fleece to tie up a few Tommy-clousers... If hes still giving you shit, wait till both mud-pies are operational and you could lash him to a 82/0 Gammy then sight cast him to a bull shark..... that'll will wipe the grin off his chops!
But seriously... good luck to you.
Please send some 82/0 hooks. Long shank please.

Bransfords tackle has them, they are a great small business near Cairns NQ, I've been a customer for years, even after moving from QLD. Good info etc too from Keith and the staff if you are up that way. Fishincairns.com.au has some interesting links too, if you're headed up there.
Cheers,
Nick.
Thanks Drifter,I ordered one today.

Pension? What pension? I'm a self-funded retiree, and don't you forget it, young man.
I am just jealous, I have only 19 years till retirement !:eek:.I will be bloody 63 yrs old until I can get my super.Firies in walking frames is not a good look !
That's what you think. By the time you get to 63 the retirement age (thanks to our Dear Leader) will be 172. Keep working old son.
You are not far from the truth Doug,we need to hire a politician cleanser, much like the pied piper, to get these mongrels. They can retire with great benefits, at a very early age, with very little time put in, or effort, scumbags ! .
