I signed up to Facebook 12 months or so ago to see what it was all about and to see if I could find a use for it. Still looking for the use; I think it's a lot of fuss about nothing.

BTW, Twitter is in the same category IMHO.

It is a way of keeping in touch with those friends you may have lost contact with through other means.

For me, my family is spread all over australia, this way we all keep in contact and have a bit of a chat and look at photos etc that we havent done for years. We dont talk on the phone so this is a great substitute.
And because i have moved around a lot with work, i am now able to keep in contact with those who i havent seen for years.

Due to the nature of FB, we are discouraged from having anything to do with it. It opens another can of worms in regards to teacher/student relationships. So to keep in touch with my brother I use Skype.

Cheers

plus here is another good reason to stay off f.b.

a discussion started there will take content from the forums here

an example, what were you told would happen to a poly boat over time.

this is just one of the things i was told..........::mate do you relies that on a very hot day that thing is going to melt::

"Due to the nature of FB, we are discouraged from having anything to do with it."

Miss Jane, I cannot think why any intelligent adult person would want to have anything to do with FB. And I think your position as a teacher of teenagers would preclude you from its use, for your own professional standing alone.

The fact that "trendy" politicians like KRudd use it is the final death knell for the concept.

Do you find it significant that our board administrator thinks it's a "good thing"?

And finally, the fact that you are restricted to a small number of characters per post defines the death of intelligent conversation like wot we 'ave 'ere.

Over to you Miss J..........

I have a page set up for our boat hire, and I follow several pages from other groups.
But I dont believe a full Face Book Profile is a good medium for PBO to follow.
I have removed any PBO mates from my Face Book,(sorry guys) purely because we use Face Book for family contact. It has a lot of our family content, and thats the way we want to keep it!
The idea of having a page rather than a profile for PBO is a great idea and one which Dave may want to explore?
A Face Book Page sends followers/subscribers details of upcoming events, specials, outings and the like! Used in this fashion it is a great way to spread the word of Poly Boat Ownership! But unlike a full Face Book profile, this restricts the content that the average punter can gain access too!
Just my 20c worth guys!

I was in two minds whether to delete my PBO FB group when my family friends were commenting on the post they saw on my FB.

Not wanting to loose the friends I have made on here I have a new FB account under the name of AUStealth.

This way I get to have the best of both world.

Regards To all
Tony
