View Full Version : Fuel Tank in 4.1 Tiller Steer
G/day
I am not content with the fit out I inherited where a piece of marine ply floor has been inserted into the port rear bin to support a 23 litre tank. The ply is only attached on one side via a longitudinal member fixed thru the wall of the centre bin, no fixings exist to the hull.
Enquiring how others have addressed this issue.
mine are bolted with a longitudinal member on one side only and has been that way since 05 with out a problem. is this the type of set up you have

Thanks mate, noted you appear to have used aluminim angle for the longitudinal member, an improvement on the use of a strip of marine ply.

I often use the aluminium angle with lexel to adhere the board to the poly on the apposing side. This works quite well, the weight is taken by the angle bolted through the side.

Thanks, will chase up a supplier.

One of the primary criterion in this exercise was to provide cleaning access to the bin floor where the fuel tank was located I believe I have achieved this outcome.
A 23 litre poly tank came supplied with the boat. All fabrication in aluminium with stainless steel fastenings.
All photos are of the stern of a 4.1 Poly Tiller Steer;
