G/day
Inherited a 55 Digital Series Trolling Motor on my latest acquisition. This boat has spent most of its life fishing saltwater comps therefore environmental factors have taken their toll.
When I tested the motor there was no speed control on the foot controller, motor would only run at maximum revs. Stripped the foot controller and found the magnetic slide brush heavily corroded and not installed in the sliding arm socket. Removed the rust from the magnet, turned it upside down and installed it into the sliding arm socket.
Cleaned the circuit board track and greased it, all functions AOK after reassembly.
Hope this fix may save someone some $$$.
