Hell broke loose today when I reversed my boat up the driveway using my 4WD tray top which has a canopy installed. On approximately 90% steering lock the trolling motor fouled the rear canopy vertical support member resulting in breakage of the trolling motor shaft and damage to the pivot release bracket, NOT HAPPY JAN!

Done the same process a million times with the old craft without mishap because I mounted the motor on the centre line axis of the boat.

There are other issues with a trolling motor mounted off centre that I identified yesterday. At low speed with Auto Pilot engaged the boat doesnt track straight although conditions were dead calm.

Major rework on the positioning of the motor today, it is now as close as practical to the centre line axis of the boat. Repair of the motor is an issue for tomorrow.

Not good mate,I suppose you used the same words as did I last night. While reversing the car the shipping container jumped out at me at 2 am in my yard, when I got called into work(agro)(agro).

Unfortunate stuff Gravy, but it sounds like you have the remedies under way.

And Giffo, I heard that about the yard-dwelling bundy sea container. Timid creatures when you're looking right at them, but drop your guard for one second they'll pounce.doh

I have a Model 55AP, basic stuff foot control only. Been reliable to date prior to the mishap.
