On page 41 (that's the weather page) of the sun herald one will find an article about the banning of electric fishing reels. it would seem that the N.S.W.advisory council on recreational fishing are saying these reel's are not a traditional (or) acceptable form of fishing???????????? how dose that work.
Modern fishing page 114 an article by Steve Starling, seems like the government are trying to set a hard and fast rule on how far you can take a boat (of given length) off sure. now its true that there are dick heads that will try and go miles out to sea in the most inappropriate boats, as you all know i own a 4.1 and on a good day i will slip out around the headlands, but only when the weather is spot on, Am I to be penalized because of a few dick heads ????????????????? were will all this stop, will a boat like the mighty 5.99 be stopped from fishing browns mt or the wide reefs off the Q.L.D. coast ????????????????? best stop now or i will be looking for a politician to yell at.

shockPaulshock

p.s. if there is any truth in any of this, you best start righting to a politician

WA tried to ban the electric reel- the old geezers -and many of em fish and vote, quickly put up a stink with the disabled fisherman
nothing came from it

i dont use one myself
as for how far off coast- common sense is sadly not so common anymore- but it would be sad if they start putting mandatory limits, afterall they went to get Tony Bullimore goodness knows how far offshore- twice! and he s not even australian

can see the excuses
"how come u r 20 miles offshore in your 3m punt"-

well sir the wind was blowing offshore and i couldnt get it started

mate -i had a big one on - and u wouldnt believe how it pulled me out to sea- reckon it was a great white- didnt wanna start the motor, thought she might come back,so we kept on fishing so we would have something to eat
