I have a 4.1 Poly and was wondering if a 48" length shaft is long enough or should I go a 54" shaft on the electric bowmount. What are the rest of you 4.1 owners using.
Thanks
Mine is a 48" and is fine. I wanted a 54" but they only had 48" in stock and I didn't want to wait.
If I was to buy another one, I would go for the longer shaft though because an extra 6" is always handy.:)

The 48" is a bit cheaper. If it is long enough I might go that way.
Thanks for the info.

48 inch shaft is more than adequate, just be conscious of how and where you mount the motor. Also leave your main motor in the water ensuring it is pointed straight ahead and that the steering pivot friction adjustment maintains this orientation.
Far better to hit the bottom or an obstacle with the boat skeg than with your trolling motor prop, Ive found no loss in performance by not having the Minn Kota prop deeper in the water.
