G'Day all, I have been on the lookout for a secondhand 4.5 side console and had just about given up thinking new is my only way to get one with a 60 horse, but now a older 4.55 has popped up and im wondering what the difference is between the two hulls. From what i can see the 4.55 has a bit larger pod style rear corners but i cant see much else. Any help from more knowledgeable polyfolk would be great.

cheers

Never had the 2 side by side, but the transom is better thought out on the 4.5, and so is the internal layout of bins and hatches etc.

pay closer attention Chin next time I'm throwing squid over to your boat. You missed looking at the trim tabs aswell. maybe next time.

Cheers, Jan.

A mate and I have the same boat motor combo only I have the 455 and he has the 45 the only differance is the transom which is better set out on the 45 with much better storeage than the 455, but you do lose a bit of your pods which are handy if you surf or dive to help you get back in. Also we have noticed that the 45 has to be trimed down a lot more and rides a bit harder we think its because the motor on the 455 is set in a bit of the pods and the 45 is flush but that said its not much harder and in a poly you need storage

Another thing I have just noticed I just got my rego for nsw and it states boats up to 4.5 can carry 4 people and boats over 4.5 can have 5 people so in theory you can have 1 more person in a 455.

thats why I suspect polycraft have some unusual sized vessels in their range:
4.1?wtf
4.5?wtf
5.3? wtf
and the last one which just sneaks under the maximum length for hire boats with-out survey hassles, the 5.9?yippy
