Here is my recently finished bow mount bracket. It has a water snake quick release on it so the motor can come off during the road trip. I have set it up like this to still give full use of the anchor well.

great idea, I like the added stiffness with the alloy checker plate!
Did you place a bead of lexel (silicone) under the plate?
Might help with the flex effect?

Glenn - instead of trying to seal underneath, what I did is use small stacks of fibre washers (higher stacks closer to inboard because of sloping gunnel). This actually allows air between the board and gunnel so it doesn't get permanently wet and rot.

I agree when using timber you need to be careful of rot.2thumbsup
