Two years of dreaming, six months of organising and seemingly a life time of convincing the missus.... The Wearybay Bandit is finally under construction.
The Big Fella has the hull and is going to work his magic over the next couple of weeks. Here are a couple of pics he has sent through of the blank canvas.

Looking good Keith 2thumbsup 2thumbsup 2thumbsup
We cant wait for the continuing build pics.
Just remind the BF to glue the console to the floor - he tends to forget the details.
Love the floor space Keith, are you moving from a tinnie to plastic ?

Cheers Gents,
The transition is well and truly underway Giffo, I sold my old dinger this very morning. Shes on her way to a piecefull retirment up to the tablelands to fish the dams (kind of like Doug, they are going to crack it open, re-wire it, check the valves, scratch the corrosion off and put it out to pasture) .
I have to admit, I did shed a little tear when I watched her go.
Bring on the Plastic Fish Marauder!!!!!!
"(kind of like Doug, they are going to crack it open, re-wire it, check the valves, scratch the corrosion off and put it out to pasture) "
Y'know, everybody doesn't have to pick on me - I'm still an invalid. The s/s wires holding my chest together could go pop any minute and then how would you feel? (Think carefully before answering - I know where you all live.)

I'm sorry Doug, I thought I was being amicable.
I would'nt call the Big Fella a Blank canvas maybe just blank.

The green carpet is unusual, although if you suffer from mal-de-mer it may be good at camouflaging vomit.
If I'm out Glenn's way I'll drop in and make sure he's not asleep during working hours.
I won't get involved in the Doug-heckling, everyone seems to have taken my lead and run with it......carry on.

Cheers Boys,
Chin, I dont think the carpet is actually green, I think that is just the hue of the pic... I pretty sure.

You wont hear me complaining Big Fella, but you know what this bunch of yobbos are like, always picking on a bloke every chance they get.
They will be laughing on the other sides of their collective faces when the pics start rolling in of the oversized tropical seamonsters, being sculldragged aboard the WEARYBAY BANDIT!!!! laugh1laugh1laugh1
It's just a new boat you're getting Keith. It's not going to teach you how to fish!

Doug Doug Doug, soon you are going to run out of excuses....
Your peepers have been re-surfaced, your ticka re-plumbed, you are no longer encumbered by your houseboat toilet cleaning business and you're allways telling us that Mrs Doug has no more use for you....
Soon you are going to have to dust off you old swoffing tackle, de cobweb the 5.3, grease up your zimmer frame and ACTUALLY GO FISHING!!!
Then YOU can post some photos, walk the walk and show all the heathens and would-be-swatters how a true Gentleman Angler does it. yippyyippyyippyyippy

Thats one serious cast deck, the checker-plate box is going to be the catch tank and the esky is to demonstrate the posi of the ice box.
Nice one Glenn! She's coming together!! yippyyippyyippyyippy
And by the by, did anyone see this months issue of Fishing world??
Theres an article in there about Bloomfield lodge, Jim mentions the pending arrival of a custom vessel to fish the creeks and inshore reefs....This is her..... Awsome!
Well Keith seeing as I am your closest neighbour and have holidays in Nov, it will be up to me to help christen the boat with bait and chips and scratches!!

No worries Dave, November is a good time of year to teach those red-fish a lesson!!
And I only said that to Doug with the best intentions, with concern for his health and wellbeing... Not because he's always picking on me but doesnt produce any photos for us.
"laugh1laugh1 been told today Doug???"
I have Keith on "ignore". In place of his postings I get a picture of a cane toad. Great improvement.

I was actually wondering about that. Have you blokes that have the factory cast deck insert had any dramas? Just out of interst, but one brumby I went out on the deck was kind of bowed in at the front. It still did the job but I did wonder about the longevity of them with folks standing on them all day every day out in the sun,I was pretty chuffed that the Biggie was going to make up a full frame, rather then just a deck extension.

Keefy, I think they were tongue in cheek? Ally in a plastic website!doh
I had a Demo Brumby last year and was reasonably impressed with the factory cast deck! Although the factory insert is fairly restrictive in storage access.
The fabrication of an extended cast deck opens up a whole new world of options??2thumbsup
Anyway, better get back to it!shock

I take everything said on this site with a "grain of salt" as they say Bigfella, some of the stuff that comes out of this lots keyboards.... you'd think the whole site was populated with plastic-obsessed, moronic lunatics if you took em seriously....
But then again.....

Hey Dave, I never claimed not to be one of the same.
And DvrDve, what do you mean Doug needs a rest, he's always played pick on Keithy. On chat night I have to spend half the evening standing in the corner facing the wall at his orders. Its just that now its popular he's no longer interested (nonconformist see).
I honestly beleive this whole site has united just to sledge Doug and get one up on him, the only problem is has no morals, or emotions, and he's sharper than the lot of us put together, on top of it all he's just had his 100 000km service and he's all full of beans... We never had a hope. dohdohdoh
*edit* Ahh I get it.... Your all looking for a softer target... fair enough...play on.

I will try to post a few pics of hugemungus fishes of the north as I go.

Have you tried to convince Keith he needs a bigger Bow mount? ... my 4.1 struggled at times with a 55lber ... I thinking an 80lb for my 4.5 with iPilot for the Spot Lock feature ... just wondering if I can get away with a 55lb version?
Thanks

Totally understand your concerns, however the biggest draw back with running anything higher then 50 or 55lb is running 24 volt.
Polycraft Boats are notorious for being heavy arsed bitches at the best of times, extra batteries, larger bow mount, additional electronics where do we stop?
What would be great would be if Polycraft can lift their ratings by an average of 10hp?
That would be enough to make all the difference!
Worth considering though, thanks for your comments!

Well the BigFellas on his way up with the Bandit!! Delivering it personally! What service!! I just got back from Holidays, crap weather, I'll try to do a report when I get the pics together.
Glen said he should be up here on sun or mon, once I've taken it for a run I'll post a heap of pics of the whole shebang!!
Fishmarket, I am fully aware the 55lb is gonna struggle to pull her around, but I really just wanted it to adjust drift for the moment. Once I have run it in and suss out the main use of the vessel I can look at running a 24 v system and an 80lb if needed, but as Biggie said; weight & space, and currently $$$$$. To put a 24v system I would have had to scratch up another couple of grand for motor, batts and charging unit. I figured I would spend that dosh on my custom extras to get me started, I may not have need of bigger thruster.
The other concern for me is that shes a working boat, and she is gonna cop a flogging. A digital minncota has more things to go wrong, these watersnakes are just a simple setup with a prop motor, steering motor and relay. Easy to fix yourself (which is important for me being remote), and at the end of the day, if its completely knackered; not to expensive to throw away and replace. But we will see I guess.
Any way, not long now and she'll be here!!
Great stuff!!! Nearly Here!!! Woo Hoo!! yippyyippyyippyyippy
Keithy,See check list below before Glenn gets there,
Bundaberg Rum(big bottle),Ice and Coke or Bundaberg Ginger Beer.If a bloke has driven that far to deliver a boat, he will be thirsty !yippyyippy
If a bloke has driven that far to deliver a boat, he will be thirsty !yippyyippy
Probably a bit smelly too..
Have a safe trip Glenn.
"I may not have need of bigger thruster."
That's not the word around the traps, Keithy!

I personally found what you call the draw back as the actual reason why you DO want a 24Volt 75 or 80lb Elec motor. "Polycraft Boats are notorious for being heavy arsed bitches." By having 24VDV I now have enough power to run my boat for 2 days in Elec only comps & also use the batteries for accessories as well. Crank battery is left free for cranking only.
Fishmarket, I also think the I-Pilot is a awesome feature. I want to now sell my 75lb 24V Motorguide & buy a MinnKota Riptide ST 80 with IPilot

Well the Bandit has arrived!! I took delivery from Glenn this morning, we went for a quick rip to suss it out, then I spent the day cruising around. Awsome!! I will post some pics when I get my act together.
The leccy was fine for what I need. Against the incoming tide in the river and into about 15kn of wind, she pushed 1.8kn on the sounder. Good enough!! I was actually quite amazed how well it pulled, but yes it would be nice to have a fandangle i-pilot or whatever.
The cast deck is fantastic, all I need to do now is find the bloody fish in the river!!! There is still enough room in the back for a few to bottom bash. My oldboy and I caught a heap of Nannies, kept em fresh in the live tank.
Great stuff! I will post pics soon.
