Well was out on the water at 6am on sunday morning, Urunga Bar was messy so thought we might go pump sum nippers while we waited an hour for the tide to run back in so we could get out,

Cruising down the river and see a boaty waving us down, He's been anchored up all night with a flat battery, Cant start motor, needs a tow back to ramp about 1.5 km away, I thought i better do the right thing as im a strong believer in 'Calmer'... o would want someone to do the same for me if i was in that situation..

Tow went well, ask him how he went with the fishing, Great he says, Bagged 3 nice Cod, err never ever seen one in this river in the 7 yrs i been fishing here but ok, are they good eating i ask him , he rekons there good.
get back to the Ramp and my decky yells out come have a look at the fish species, thats waht OLD mate caught, Yup THEY ARE ENDANGERED!! ILLEGAL TO TAKE THEM!!! he had 3x70+cm estuary cod,

Nice work mate, NOT, if i would of seen in his esky before he wanted a tow , There would of been no way in high hell i would of towed the scumbag back to the ramp! That stuff really gets to me.. Obviously.lol :P

Nice to see there are stil people out there that are willing to put themselves out to help others... nice work zutta! :)

Was the guy blatantly taking the fish or is he more like me... wouldnt know a wobbygong from a wellington boot?

One of the biggest problems with fishing is the identifying what is what. Even if you get one of those fish id books its still hard at times to identify a species. A couple of times I got yelled at by my son for wanting to keep something that I thought was one type but it was the other... either too small, too big or endangered.

Hopefully it was an 'honest' mistake by the guy.

estaury cod are protected over there, man they are a pain out here, Karma will pay you back Zutta good to see that people willing to lend a hand, i have been caught before with not enough fuel (took the word of my old man who said it was full, was lucky to have half a tank) needless to say i waved a bloke down who lent me 5L of fuel (i was 2km from home, spewing!!!) and made good with my promise of a block and he was very appreciative, he didn't want it but i insisted especially since he was the last boat other than us to head home!

so i hope he dropped a carton or a bottle off for you, it's only fair!

Great effort Zutta, being broken on the water is not a fun thing to do!
Maybe he didnt realize what he was taking was illegal? Either way mate, well done and yes Karma will come visit you one day!
I have towed broken boats, had some nice compliments and yes I have even had the odd mongrel, but at least I know when (not if) the time comes for the BigFella to break down I have paid my dues!
