Found the info from the old forum and repaste it here...
"when using the heat gun make sure the area has been cleaned with degreaser first this will stop the orange peel effect when you weld or heat you must apply the degreaser firast of all then heat or weld this will stop the poly discoloring"

Clean area properly
Heat area surrounding gouge until pliable but not melting.

Work the area with something that will help keep it in shape, I used some angle alloy section, do not be tempted to use fingers as you will burn your fingers and leave fingermarks on the hull!

When worked it should look something like this and will require a quick rub with some wet and dry paper to clean up.
