I couldnt find any of dads fish photos but here is one of my grandfathers when the Hydro was in full swing building new dams in Tassie & the trout were growing up in all the new lakes.

They are some serious fish mate! I probebly said the other night I'v never actually seen one in real life.

I love Grandads ute, I bet it was a doozy. Did he go fishing in his suit coat and slacks like that? I guess it was the attire of the day. We have an old pic here of folks playing tennis in full suits, up here in the jungle, prbly in 40oC heat.

What would he have been catching them with? What about you blokes, what do you use these days?

Good stuff mate, miss Janes is a pearler too hey. Good fish.

Thanks Pete, good on you for taking the time.

Cheers

As I wasnt even born until the late 60s I never saw the car in the pic but he was always dressed no matter where he was.

What would he have been catching them with? What about you blokes, what do you use these days?

Again I have no idea what he used. The ones the mate & I have in the next pic were on soft plastics

Good stuff mate, miss Janes is a pearler too hey. Good fish.

She does love catching salmon cos the fight so well on light gear.

Great stuff mate, looks like some top weather too. Just goes to show, I dont think of Tassie has having such great weather at this time of year, here I am freezing my ass off, and the seas a murky brown slop with a 40kn breeze.

Fantastic mate, that should keep me going until I actually catch a fish of my own.... feels like donkeys ears. I'v got my kit packed and the mighty forex is seaworthy----ish. hopefully I'll be able to report as I go on my trip up the cape next week.

Goodonya Pirate,

Top stuff.

To tell the truth I only looked at the sounder to take the pic. We could see the salmon busting up on the surface.

But saying that when the fish werent biting the screen was clear as with nothing at all between the surface clutter & the bottom. so all those marks had to be fish.

Well Keithy it is now 11.11 am and it is still frozen!!!!!!!!!! Apparently it got down to -6 degrees last night. With the heat pump working flat out, it is only 15 inside. We just came back from a walk to the market and I would guess it would be about 6-8 outside. BUT I wouldn't live anywhere else!
