Looks like a cock-up from beginning to end. Where did the tow-truck come from - the tow-truck fairy?

And only one little fish to show for it? Have you no shame, laddie? laugh1

Thanks Blokes, It was great fun

Doug, I snapped an axle at about 3ish, at 5 the wheel fell off,I set up camp for the night, my folks went to the nearest station to ring Weipa Auto. The next morning the bloke showed up after breakki. Absolutely Amazing!!!!

Verry few fish, terrible weather, no one really caught anything decent. We did catch a fair few, but nothing really worth photographing.

The only Poly contact in the trip was when I was in Weipa, waiting for my new axle. I was talking to Glenn on the phone, organising the delivery of the Bandit, in the Weipa camp grounds.

They have rental Polys there, so while I was on the phone......

I sat in one.

Does that count??

Scat - aka crap, turd, etc. Which is about what it is...

Looks like you had fun none-the-less KP. Have you taken delivery of that new Brumby yet?

You must have worked the old Hilux hard to break the axel!

Mine of the same body shape had 300 000Ks on the clock when I sold it . . . . . . . but it was full of rust from putting our dive gear in it. . . . . .

Obviously Weipa Auto has experience with your sort of driving. I'll forgive you since you only had a tinnie with you, but once you sign for BF's poly I shall expect a significant raising of standards (not to Gentleman level, of course, but a rise all the same).

Let this be a lesson to you.....

The Brumby has just arrived in Bloomfield Sweeden, Im going over first thing in the morning to pick it up, Hopefully she will be blooded tomorrow!!!

My Hilux has lead a hard life Pete, it lived in the Kimberly most of its days. Then I pushed her real hard while I was there for 3 years, now 3 years up here. I busted the other side a couple years ago. That day we had just left the beach, the compressor had shat its self so I only had 20psi in my tyres. I recon hammering it that hard with flat tyres on clay, fully loaded... over loaded, it probably only had 2 wheels on the ground when it went....... thats a lot of pressure for a likely 25yr old axle. Poor old car. But plenty of fourbies many many years her junior were packing it in every day. The difference is, most of the folks with the nice new cars wouldn't dare risk them doing the stuff we do.

Yeah Giffo, flash car topper hey. Necessity is the mother of invention dont they say... Camping next to croc water, night time rain storms and adventurous pearants. Did the trick, bugger to put up and down though.

Weipa Auto didn't think much of it at all Doug, I think they get much MUCH worse daily. The axle took 2 days to arrive then they fit it before lunch the following day. Top operators.
