Well as you would have read by now we have just arrived home from our latest delivery, this time into the World Heritage area of Bloomfield!
"Ayton" is a quiet, tranquil village nestled at the mouth of the Bloomfield river. Our customer Keith Penrose is one of the fishing guides at the exclusive "Bloomfield Lodge".
Keith's choice of Polycraft, 4.8m Brumby was given the full custom fit-out as depicted earlier in here!
The photos tell the story as we traveled through NSW, Gunnedah, Narrabri, Moree, Boggabilla, Goondiwindi, then into out back Queensland through Roma, Emerald, Charters Towers and then down the range to Townsville for the quick trip up the inland road to Helenvale and then finally down to Ayton for only our second night of sleeping in a bed since Thursday.
Our accommodation had been booked earlier in the day by Keith, and what an awesome spot! Haley's Cabins offers the best mix of camping, cabins and tent cabins on the coast.
We cooked some dinner and hit the beds for a much needed rest.
6.00am next morning returning from my early morning sabbatical and guess who's already all over Bandit?
Keith must have had no sleep as he was up over the side and into every crook and cranny he could find, in the dark I might add!
Introductions done we head off to the local store to borrow their forklift for the unload. Our car trailer had done the job perfectly and the boat & trailer had not moved 10mm in 2,600k's.
Boat unloaded we headed out for a quick trial run down the Bloomfield river and over the first sand bar, turn left and then over the second sand bar!
Keith traverses these shifting sand bars daily, sometimes several times a day!
Dont know how he did it pre 6.00am in the dark? Well done Keith!
We were very low on fuel (no pumps in Ayton) so were advised we would need to travel further down the track to the next little shop, approximately 10 to 15 minutes?
We refueled, did the maths then decided to continue down the track towards Cairns! The photo's dont really do the area justice as the scenery was awesome, the track wasn't that difficult!
Through some of the most picturesque country I have ever had the pleasure of traversing, then down the "Bloomfield Track" a mecca for our 4x4 fraternity!
What an experience, 5,600k's in 5 days.
Traveled country I had never seen before, hopefully we may even get to return in years to come?
