Hi Guys,

Have a 4.5 drifter CC, and am thinking of upgrading to the 4.8 - Never seen a 4.8 in the flesh, so would like some feedback on them?

Are they "much" bigger than the 4.5 (hehe yes, I know 30cms!), but internally is there a lot more room than the drifter?

Performance Im assuming would be better than th 4.5?

Love my 4.5, but it's a little cramped when fishing with more than 1 person(with eskies etc)

G'day Mick,

I'd say the best thing to do is get in one mate.

I can't really offer any advise as I have never fished from a 4.5 drifter, but I recently got my brumby and it has way more room than my 4.5 savage. I guess it depeds on how you have it layed out, but mine is the perfect mix of cast deck and floor space for the types of fishing I do. The esky and a catch tank is hidden uneder the cast deck. I have fished from a factory standard Rear center console and there was enough room for us to fish 4 comfortably and a big esky.

anyway, its not the size that counts its what you do with it !!

Hope that helps, welcome to the site

Cheers mate - might have to take a drive down to tweed heads(Currumbin Marine).

What donk are you running on yours, and what sort of performance are you getting?

I have a 75 e-tec on the back, at about 42-4500 she goes about 26/28kn. I can trim her out a bit and push 30kn at about 45/4700, but more than that she starts to porpoise. A lot of the boys on here talk about adding trim tabs, hydro foils or changing the prop to get better perfermance but I am happy with that. The e-tec comes standard with a masive, chunky, stainless prop. The torque on the thing is intense, you just feather the throttle and she jumps, the hole shot is instant. Maybe with a different prop I would get better cruising speed, but why bother, its awsome.

Cheers

Sweet looking rig mate! Are the bow hand rails custom?

Who did your front cast deck etc? Looks bloody nice!

How do you find the side console(Weight distribution while driving, and spray?)

Side note: If anyone is running an 80 four banger on a Brumby, would be interested to hear how they perform..

Hi Mick

The bow rails are custom, Bigfella did the fitout on it, the deck is tough as. The console is not really a side console, its a centre console cut down and mounted on the starboard side of the centre line, awsome. I havemnt really noticed a problem with weight because it is positioned so that if there is extra weight somewhere in the boat I can move over to even up, and when I'm on my own it is un noticable.

I went on a trip in a Brumby with an 80 4banger yammy, it was nice and quiet but it took a bit to get out of the hole.

Cheers
