Looking at putting a bow mount electric on my 4.1 just wondering do you need to bolt the quick mount plate on or will scewing it down be enough as it looks to be a daunting task trying to dig all that foam out of the bow section or would it be a better option to have the quick release plate poly welded to the bow.Any ideas will be much appreciated.

g'day girty dog i was trying to decide myself how to mount the electric, the way i will mount it will be sikaflexing then poly welding a piece of polycraft hull material the same size as the quick release bracket to the bow, the same way barry did here (i dont think barry glued his tho)

then i will use short countersunk coach bolts if i think it is needed, and then attach quick release bracket to that.

A tip to remember if welding a piece to the bow like i will, use the same plastic type. I talked to polycraft and the guys in the workshop said other plastics will initially hold but over time will let loose.

cheers

I have a 25mm thick plate (which matches the motor foot print)welded on to the deck of my 4.1 and the quick release bracket is just screwed to that.:

ok just to be different, I have bolted mine direct to the boat and it is holding just fine. one of the members here, SQUIZZY had his held with screws and that worked with no problems as well
