mate AUSTRALIA has banned the use of anti personal mines and we would never brake the rules now would we, so a land mine it will have to be

If you're such a stickler Dave you would know that they're anti-PERSONNEL mines. (Spelling is important when dealing with killing tools, y'know.)

One of my surgical colleagues in East Timor who had seen service in Rwanda and other nasty places said that the good thing about the East Timor affair was that there were no mines. As an orthopod, he'd spent a lot of theatre time fixing up kids who'd "found" apm's.

In Oman in the 70's we had to casevac British troops who'd stood on mines left in the armoury when we pulled out of Aden. We called these blokes "Harold Wilson's Casualties". Very effective deterrent - they rarely kill, so they tie up resources moving casualties back and there's few things that discourage the troops more than seeing their mates with one leg and no balls.

Sorry to be serious, but some things stick with you. Good joke though, Lipper. I laughed!
