View Full Version : Gold Coast Flathead Classic
Is anyone (else) fishing the Gold Coast Flathead Classic this year?? A neighbour of mine approached me about going in it, and so we are. Never fished any kinda comp before, but from all I've heard this one is quite a bit of fun.
If anyone is going in, my boat will be in it, and we are called team "Lunch Box", which has become the semi-official name of my plastic boat.
Went for a pre-fish in excellent conditions for a few hours last Saturday and managed 8 flatties. Most small but one low 60's.
G'Day sweeden good to hear there will be another poly there. I will be going this year in my boat, dont have an offsider yet but that should not be too hard to find.
I fished the classic in 05 and it is a good fun event, i stayed at the caravan park and it is only a short walk to the comp site for the arvo prize draws and dinner etc, and for the $200 price you probably recieve $80-100 worth of sponsors gear so its not too bad.

Hi guys, I was interested in going in this year but was struggling to find someone who could take the days off. I'm located about 40mins from Southport. If anyone needs some boat storage during the event just let me know as I'm on 5 acres so you can pitch a tent or hook your van up to the shed. I'd also be happy to jump on board someone's boat (or take mine) and fish for the 4 days if you need a partner McGyver, happy to split costs etc. I've done alright down there in recent times bagging fish up to 88cm but never fished the comps. Would be interesting to see how it went.

For the benefit of anyone else reading the posts, if you're interested in participating with or without a boat, I'd suggest contacting Robert See from the Gold Coast Sports Fishing Club who is the director of the comp. His contact details are available at http://www.flatheadclassic.com.au/
