My 11 year old Suzuki DF50 with over 120 reliable hours with no real love and tenderness shown, finally gave me one spot of trouble.

So being the fair person I am, I got rid of it immediately.

Traded in on Suzuki's just released DF60A. They shaved 47kg of the previous DF60 model, so it was lighter than the old 50 by a kilo or so. Includes lean burn technology (cheaper on fuel again), and bonus 10HP.

Got over 15 hours on it so far, and what an upgrade! Quieter, faster, quicker out of the hole, and more efficient.. Oh, and I think it looks prettier too. And has a hose attachment for easy flushing (me like lazy).

Picture attached of the little beastie hanging off my rig, with Gloucester Island in the background. Trip was from Bowen Harbour, heading into Dingo Beach for Sunday lunch... Should travel the extra 40km's and visit pommy-git.

Haven't pushed the motor too hard, or fiddled with the prop too much. But the 4.55 Cuddy with two adults, one child, etcetera sat on 34km at 4200 RPM.. Max speed was 54km, but not full revs yet.

I'd recommend this upgrade to anyone.. Awesome step forward in technology.. Any advice/opinion on the prop would be appreciated though (Would love to push the limits)..

Cheers

Looks like you made a good choice Mick, I have been wanting to find someone with one of these new zukes!
They were a tad heavy before but with 47kg lighter should be an awesome combo.
Keep us updated on performance figures if you could, I would be interested to see how she runs after 20 or 30 hours on the clock for my Pontoon boats!

Been talking to my local dealer, nice guy in Ayr, Robert.. And he's getting very excited about how well this model is selling..

Yeah if you believe in stats, here's they are...

DF60A weighs 42 per cent lighter than its predecessor model.
Lean Burn Control system that at cruising speed (4500 -5000 RPM) offers a 53 per cent reduction in fuel consumption compared with the previous model.
Repeat 53% better on fuel at cruise.. OMG = lower cost, greater range

Now the intangibles..
A streamlined gear case reduces drag by up to 36% contributing to faster acceleration
Maintenance free self-adjusting timing chain
New tilt limit system incorporates both tilt limit and trim sender functions
Larger capacity 19A alternator = run more gadgets
Better engine oil flow, reducing mechanical drag
Sexiest looking engine in it's class (ok, that one is purely my opinion)

Looks it best strapped to back of bright yellow coloured Polycraft boats (good spotting, that one's my opinion too)

Wonder with the extended range I have if I could be the first lunatic in a tiny Polycraft to fish the outer ribbon reefs? Might take a while to get there at 40km/hr..

I judge Bowen to edge of the reef to be 140km or so.. at 40km/hr that's only 3 1/2 hour trip...

Surely we could make it out and back for a day trip :)

70L tanks, 43% more efficient at cruise....

And if the lunatics don't make it back.... Then we call your pro mate for a tow back.. (Don't really want to do that twice though)

So who's the maddest bugger in here?
