New Zealand - the natives there are friendlier than NSW, and the trout are big enough to eat.

Yeah you are probably looking at the New England region of NSW but unfortunately, being a resident of Tasmania, I'm not much help.

I have seen places like Ebor, Dorrigo & Glen Innes mentioned on other forums.

You're getting there, DD. Keep up the good work.

I'm not going to say Doug is right, for all I know he's wrong....I'm just going to agree with him.
Upper NSW has Trout, but you wouldn't target them, too few and too small.
Bass on the other hand are a fantastic freshwater target near you.

I am assuming that is what all this marine ply is for!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Like all fish consumed in this house, it would be cheaper to buy it):rolleyes:

couple nice lakes in the snowies near canberra mate, ecumbene and jindabyne. you should consider a slightly longer trip and get a guide on one of the lakes. tassie is much much better tho, and nz... well you know.

Although it's been a while since I fished New England the fish are definitely there, every issue of NSW Fishing Monthly has a few reports. There is a bit of public access near Ebor or Dorrigo but the best fishing is definitely on private property if you can talk your way in.
