View Full Version : how close are the trout
Hi people moved to the sunny coast 2.5 yrs ago and miss catching freshwater rainbow and brown trout does anyone know of the nearest place for me to go and get a trout fix.I am presuming it will be around the top of nsw somewhere.???????
New Zealand - the natives there are friendlier than NSW, and the trout are big enough to eat.

tassie is a good second though
in WA i could give some spots -sadly none over east

Yeah you are probably looking at the New England region of NSW but unfortunately, being a resident of Tasmania, I'm not much help.
I have seen places like Ebor, Dorrigo & Glen Innes mentioned on other forums.

You're getting there, DD. Keep up the good work.
I'm not going to say Doug is right, for all I know he's wrong....I'm just going to agree with him.
Upper NSW has Trout, but you wouldn't target them, too few and too small.
Bass on the other hand are a fantastic freshwater target near you.

I am assuming that is what all this marine ply is for!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Like all fish consumed in this house, it would be cheaper to buy it):rolleyes:

couple nice lakes in the snowies near canberra mate, ecumbene and jindabyne. you should consider a slightly longer trip and get a guide on one of the lakes. tassie is much much better tho, and nz... well you know.
Karl, you could get some fresh water browns, at the Sewage treatment works on the Sunny Coastlaugh1.Sorry not much help, but funny I thought !laugh1.

Although it's been a while since I fished New England the fish are definitely there, every issue of NSW Fishing Monthly has a few reports. There is a bit of public access near Ebor or Dorrigo but the best fishing is definitely on private property if you can talk your way in.
