  • Screws to mount downrigger

Hi guys. Iím going to mount the downrigger on the port side of the boat on the gunwhal. I will use a scotty mount that stays permanently on the gunwhal but allows the downrigger to slide on and off when not using. Can I check are ss self tapping screws fine? And what gauge screw would you recommend? Iíll post pics once done. Thanks

I'd feel happier with ss nuts and bolts myself, assuming it's accessible, but remember my boat was called "Unsinkable II" ;-)

If using screws, drill a hole that's nearly the screw gauge, or you'll strip the hole. Perhaps some of our oily-handed friends could put it better. I just put folks to sleep.
