Thread: my new 4.5 first time on the water

    Default my new 4.5 first time on the water

    took the poly out for a quick spin and loved it
    only thing i noticed is once i get in it leans to the right side (90kg) is there a way i can correct it ?

    It’s an easy fix, lose some weight or get a fat deckie.

    or the other option, lose a little weight and get a small decky. Worked for me!

    Hi Lou

    I noticed with my old 4.55 with a 50hp Suzuki 4st it did the same thing underway, especially if there was a side wind. Although once at anchor it didnt move much at all.

    Weight distribution is important.

    I fitted a permatrim to the motor and that assisted in getting on the plane a lot quicker and made it lean alot less

    The trim is also important, i found I had to use the trim alot to get the best performance from the motor, setting it to get on the plane then adjusting it to keep the boat level on the plane, it also assisted in reducing the amount of lean.
