Da Dah ! I am back Doug ! I have been a tad busy over the last 12 months, getting my house finished so I could sell it and give most of it to the Ex ! I am a single man once more ! More fishing time and more time to shit stir and put up fishing picks ! I am still getting about in the red trucks that women love so much ! I have dropped a new 150 Merc 4 stroke on the back of my boat, the CruiseCraft ! what a motor ! I intend to buy another Poly to go on my camper trailer so I will still be eligble to visit this site ! Many years ago we had so much fun on this site, with chat night and the like, with all the old retrobates !

Default Sad but Hopeful for the future

Hi all,
Doug with his overt enthusiasm and great sense of humour, which you would have to develop around operating tables as it is boring as shite most of the time, has been a great moderator/leader for this forum for a long time.
I have been a poor poster mainly because I didn;t rate my boat technical abilities or fishing capability.
But I did so enjoy logging on and reading the so many good posts.
Maybe that has to change on my part.
I'm based at Donnybrook in a Caravan close to Pumicetone passage.
I read Polyfranks posts and am so jealous of his success on his catch .
I would hate to see this forum dissolve,
I think migration of site if the current OIC is MIA for much longer.
PolyF I would like to come down to Bribie to meet you and discuss boats and my poor fishing capabilities.
At the moment , I have only one shoulder but the recalcitrant side will improve over time.
From a distance maybe the success of this site over time was the strength of the personal connections that many of you shared and Doug fostered with his wit " he had strings of John Clarke type deep humour" .
I hope the young progressives amongst you, drive this on.
Regards
Nils Larsen

I've got the same Merc Giffo - love it, so economical, powerful and QUIET!!! I've forgotten to turn it off twice, and decky has reminded me before getting into water. Whoops.

Nice Cobia you have their Giffo. Looks like Doug is managing to rally the old timers, hope there’s many more to come.

Hi Bluey if you’re not busy on Sunday morning we can have a chat at my place about my fishing spots and you can tell me all about your Flathead marks. Will send you a PM if you’re interested.
Have not been out for a fish for 5-6 weeks, got back from a 3 weeks holiday 2 weeks ago and the weather has been crap. Now there’s a lot of dirty water about which wont help.

I'm also a "lurker". I read a bit, but to be honest, there's not a lot of content here that invites reply..
That said, I find my days of logging in are starting to become further apart..
47 new posts since my last visit..
28 of them in this thread......

Glad to still be here and happy to help return it to a thriving hub!

Hi McGyver,
I have a family friend who recently bought a home in a retirement complex at North Caboolture.
She said, she hopes to shift the road sign which demarcates her area as "Elimbah" instead of Caboolture.
Haha.
Will take you up on a chat when shoulder repairs and I get up out on the water.
Would like to have a crack at Glassy Creek with you.
Regards
Bluey

Hi PolyFrank,
At this stage decks are clear for this Sunday.
The only possible Gremlin on the horizon is my daughter who is doing a medical placement in Maleny.
Would like to come down and meet and greet if possible.
How do we establish formal contact
Bluey

Dear Doug,
are the administrator / access issues resolved?
The forum needs a great conversationalist/stimulator, who also has IT tech abilities.
I hate to think you are one of a kind.
This comment will piss some of our brethren posters off big time.
Now to Scotch, I love a sip of Lochanora from time to time.
You did a more than wonderful job,

Bluey

Has somebody said something to upset Ron and he’s gone and taken the huff?

Doug……I take it you trained Ron up by putting him through the necessary abuse and torment he will have to endure as administrator. Making sure he has the bottle to take the job on.
If not this could be all your fault.

"If not this could be all your fault."

I might have guessed it would be my fault. No-one can imitate the psychological stress involved with dealing with you lot - you just have to hope that he is of stronger material than the average bear.

Glad to help out Nog. Yeah I was running really late for physio appointment so couldn't chat. Feel bad for pretty much throwing the tube at you as I headed up the steps two at a time.

Even though I'm without a poly boat I'd still be keen for a meet and greet with the members here at a boat ramp somewhere. A show and shine for Tupperware

Doug,
Do you have any plans if Ron is not located.
If you put a case to the Bulletin crowd,
would they allow you to briefly pick up the reins before handing it over to one of the younger ones.
It would be sad to lose access to all the previous posts if that is at risk eventually.

Bluey’s right Doug, we are going to have to accept that Ron is not going to run the forum.
